Local Tourist Information Centres and Shops

Visitor Information Centre

95 High St, Rochester ME1 1LX, UK – 01634 338141

Great little visitors Center with amenities and facilities. Great little cafe with outdoor seating area and toilet facilities. The staff are very helpful, and there’s plenty of tour brochures and mini guides about Rochester and kent. There’s usually an art installation on too which is always very unique. Centrally located, easy to find and always worth popping in to when you are in town.

A great tourist information centre with lots of leaflets available plus helpful, friendly staff. Sells a range of books and souvenirs. Also has a small café, toilets and museum upatairs.

Chatham Waterfront Bus Information Centre

Chatham ME4 4HA, UK – 01634 306000

This is a good place to go if you love to travel, as you can just get on the bus and be whisked off to anywhere, as well as the best bit is it is located in the right area. Next to a nice little waterfront walk or picnic aswell as being located next too a town where you are able to go off and buy all your the stuff you need. The water front includes toilets which sadly do get locked at night, but have got disabled toilets. They have an information site where you can buy your tickets and also get help from their wonderful staff.

Busy shopping center with all nations & good shops.. 👌

Boat Moorings & Marinas

Medway Bridge Marina Ltd

Manor Ln, Rochester ME1 3HS, UK – 01634 843576

Great for caravan, motorhome and boat storage. It's also a marina for those living on boats. Secure storage with chandeliers, cafe, Indian takeaway and boat repair yard. Update June 2018; the marina have announced that the caravan storage is under review and will only allow monthly payments which has increased costs by almost 50%.whats more once the review and new facilities have been completed storage costs will double to £1,000 per month. I have moved my van to a place in Maidstone at £400 for the year.

Medway Bridge Marina has been operating for very many years. It fronts the tidal Medway, in the shadow of the new Medway Bridge. Plenty of boats are available to buy - mostly river and coastal cruisers. Moorings available. A large yard with a good range of services. Well maintained pontoons.

Local Parks & Gardens

Victoria Gardens

Fort Pitt Hill, Rochester, Chatham ME4 6DU, UK

Perfect views from here across the River Medway. In the Spring, the cherry trees are stunning too. The grass is well kept and there is a band stand and children's play area. Unfortunately, some of the people enjoying the views here do so while taking drugs, so I would not rate this area as a child friendly zone, hence the 3 star rating. There is also a shortage of litter bins which means that people see this as a perfect excuse for leaving their plastic bottles, lager cans, empty Dorito packets ... and illicit vials of god knows what ... scattered over the beautifully tended lawns. Such a shame. So, if you do visit to enjoy the views, please take your litter home with you.

Nice park with great views and children's play area. We had a picnic there after Sunday service.

The Vines

Vines Ln, Rochester ME1 1RQ, UK – 01634 333333

A beautiful serene park in the heart of Dickens' Rochester. Quiet and peaceful, within a minute's walk from the high street with its cafe's and bars. Close by is the cathedral and castle. The Vines is a perfect place for a picnic before venturing onward to a treasure trove of fascinating history and it's all within a short walk.

It's a nice quiet place to walk. You can sit, have a picnic, walk the dog. Or walk through instead of high street.
